2010 Prospects; Newby and Sahota select schools

Two Canadian stars from the Class of 2010, Jabs Newby and Manny Sahota, have both commit with D1 NCAA schools.

The 6’1 Newby from Brampton, ON has been on the NCAA radar for a while now, with schools such as Nebraska, St. Joseph’s and St. Bonaventure all vying for the services of this explosive point guard. However, Newby has decided to commit with Eastern Kentucky, which is an up-and-coming program that will offer him the opportunity to play major minutes. A product of CIA Bounce is currently playing ball at Mountain State Academy in Beckley, WV.

Sahota is a 6’6 forward from St. Marguerite D’Youville in Brampton, Ontario. After much consideration, he has committed on to play for Cornell in the NCAA Ivey League. Sahota will be a welcome addition to the program, as he is a versatile forward. Like Newby, Sahota plays for CIA Bounce.

CIA Bounce Coach Tony McIntyre is extremely pleased with the development and achievements of these two players.

“Eastern Kentucky is a good fit for Jabs because he can come in and contribute right away. He’s smart with the ball, very athletic, works really hard, and is a ‘coach’s point guard’.”

McIntyre also praises Sahota. “Manny has worked hard to expand his game from the inside-out, and should do well at Cornell. Manny is a really solid player. He is also very serious about his school, just like he is about basketball, so Cornell is a good choice for him.”
