Anthony Bennett Hits The Big Stage With Jordan Brand Selection

Published by on February 2, 2012

Anthony Bennett will take part in the Jordan Brand Classic but this time in the main event. The Jordan Brand All American game rosters were released this morning and the 6-foot-8 2012 forward claimed his spot on the west team.

The rise of Anthony Bennett has been remarkable. Just a few years ago Anthony Bennett was just another unknown Canadian on American soil trying to make a name for himself. Now things look a whole lot different for the Brampton, ON native. Bennett has gone from relatively unknown to becoming one the most sought after prospects in the class of 2012 and is set to decide in the spring from his top five, listing Kentucky, Washington, Oregon, UNLV and Florida.

“Going from being ranked 91 to #6 all in one year is crazy,” he says, “I told Naz [Long] last year that all this was going to happen so I’m just happy.”

Bennett along side Duane Notice and Kevin Pangos took part in the Jordan Brand Classic a couple years ago but in the international game where he impressed many in attendance. This time around he’ll have a chance to showcase his wide rage of skills at the biggest stage.

This indicates that he is on the right path like other Canadians Tristan Thompson, Cory Joseph and Myck Kabongo who all took part in this game and are Findlay prep Alums. Thompson and Joseph went on to be drafted in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft, while Myck Kabongo is in talks to be a top pick in 2013 draft.

“I’m excited to be honest, it means a lot to me cause it shows that all my hard work in the summer has paid off . Other Canadians like Tristan and Cory played in this game and they are in the NBA so this means I’m on the right track of reaching my goals & dream to be playing in the league.”

Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Kyrie Irving, Rajon Rondo, John Wall plus many more current NBA stars have all taken part in the Jordan Brand Classic, which puts Anthony Bennett in a very special group.

The Jordan Brand Classic All American game goes down April 14th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
