Big Mo to Brewster For all the Right Reasons
Published by Tariq on June 7, 2009
Maurice Walker, the 6′10 C/PF out of Scarborough, Ontario is moving on to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire next year. He moves there not because he does not have interest at the College level. On the contrary, He has a ton including: Pittsburgh, Minnesota and Gonzaga to name a few.
It’s also not because he doesn’t have the scores on his SAT’s, he absolutely aced them. His scores are so high it caused the Prep school to question why he will even be attending at that level. He is gifted to the point that Brewster will develop a special academic program to meet his needs.
So why did Big Mo and his family reach this decision? Simple, he has facets of his game that he wants to improve on. These include explosiveness, conditioning, that second and third jump and perimeter defence. These improvements will make him better prepared to succeed in the NCAA. He is still only seventeen years old and will be the appropriate age to play college after his stint at Brewster.
Brewster is a great choice for this young man as they sent no less than eight players to the next level this season. Mo goes down with a plan for success and so far he has not disappointed.
Some accomplishments include:
- Being Selected twice to the Junior national team
- 2008-2009 First team Toronto all-star
- PHASE1 Mr. Basketball Canada Nomination
- 3 Final Four appearances at OFSAA along with a gold and silver medal

Wasn’t this lifted from Coach Bob Clement’s post on the HooptownGTA.com board today?

Wow, Big Mo to Brewster! Great move! Will be great to see him and Melvin play together.
I also heard that Anthony Bennett may be headed there too?
