J Clarke Richardson Back To Winning Ways

J Clarke Richardson Storm's Aaron RedpathIn what may have easily been the most athletic, fast paced two way game taking place at H.B. Beal on Day 1 of the Quad A OFSAA Championships in London, Ontario, the J Clarke Richardson Storm beat the Fletchers Meadow Arrows 71-51.
The athleticism of these two teams was front and center right from the opening tip as pushing the ball was very much a priority for both squads.  The Storm led at the end of the first quarter 21-16, with the inside threat of 6’4″ Leon Alexander and the outside shooting of 6’5″ Aaron Redpath who nailed three 3-pointers in the quarter. The second quarter had much of the same flow as the first, but the score still found the Arrows down by 7 (38-31) at the half, but were helped out by their Senior Richard Iheadindu’s 10 first half points.
Leon Alexander started the second half off with a bang as he caught a great alley-oop pass which was met with great oohs and ahhs. Not to be outdone on almost their very next possesion, Fletchers Meadows’ Denzel Taylor set up Shaquille Keith for a vicious slam which sent the crowd into a frenzy realizing the show being put on by these two teams. That kind of back and forth, blow for blow action was certainly the theme, and sums up this great match up. The game continued to have great pace, but with the continued use of the Arrows’ starters, one could not help but think that they may just run out of gas against a Storm squad that maintained steady player rotations.  That was certainly an issue as evidenced in the 30-13 third quarter which proved to land the Arrows in a hole too deep to climb out of.

At the end of the day, Aaron Redpath was on fire.  Both him and the Storm certainly answered their critics, who may have been thinking that they may have slipped a little based on their performance in the LOSSA final.
