Josh Ogden, senior point guard for the Father Henry Carr Crusaders, has signed a letter of intent to play and study at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, North Dakota.
Josh entered high school as an underalded player but quickly became the “heart and soul” of the Crusaders. He progressively developed into one of the best high schoolers in the country and has found both individual and team success, every step of the way.

In grade nine, Josh led the Crusaders to the Championship of the “Future Stars” post season tournament for freshmen. FHC had to defeat Pickering, d’Youville and Eastern Commerce all in a span of 6 hours. Josh was named MVP of the tournament, that included other notable players like Corey Joseph, Taevaunn Prince, JP Kambola, Ashton Khan and Maurice Walker.
In grade ten, Josh led the Crusaders to a TDCAA Championship and a Toronto Championship. The team lost a total of one game the whole season. That same year, during the club season, Josh led CIA/BOUNCE to a provincial championsip, where he also garnered the MVP award.
As a senior, Josh was a TDCAA Champion in 2007, and won numerous tournament All Star and MVP awards. Coach Melnik says “Josh had worked very hard in all aspects of his life. He could return for another season and likely be the #1 point guard in Ontario. Pound for pound, he is one of the toughest players in Canada. It is time for Josh to challenge himself and take his game to the next level!“
Coach Melnik has had great success funnelling student athletes through the junior college ranks to Division One basketball. Kevin Francis, who played under Coach Melnik at CW Jefferys, was “All Conference” at North Dakota State College of Science, graduated from Cleveland State University, and is now playing professionally overseas. Josh follows directly in the footsteps of former Crusader point guard Marlo Davis, who was an “All American” at Lake Region State College, and will be graduating from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington this summer.
