Tipping off the event were the ‘Grade Eights’. From start to finish, they went at it end to end. Defence wasn’t much of a factor, but who cares, it’s an all-star game! It was difficult at first to tell who the stand-outs werewith so much potential on the court at the same time. As proof, there were nine players in double figures! But as the cream rose to the top, so did Christian Hewitt and his red team as they got the W: 89-83. After a mediocre start, Hewitt caught fire in the fourth scoring 10 of his game-high 21 and capturing MVP honours. “Coach told to me to wake up. I said okay, I’m going to start playing now,” Hewitt states.
This 6’2″ guard has a bundle of skills as he can go hard to the rack and finish, or shoot it from deep with his quick release. Only in grade eight, look for him to be making noise as a freshman next year.
For the Red team, it was Raynold Kasongo and Malcolm Duvivier (MVP) who led their team, scoring 12 and 11 respectively.
