Augustine Officially A Raven
Published by Gilbert Muako on July 14, 2011
Next Level Prep (Oakville, Ont) guard Ryan Augustine has officially found a school to call home for the next four years. Yesterday, Next Level head coach Adam Nicholson confirmed the news that his team captain has committed and will join 2011 CIS champions Carleton Ravens this coming fall.
“After weighing out all his options we felt Carlton was the best fit for Ryan, they have one of the country’s best programs and coaching staff, and Ryan is going to have a very good 4 years with them.”
Augustine should definitely help the Ravens right away and fit in with Dave Smart’s brand of basketball. At 6-foot-2 he is a tough-minded guard who thrives on locking down opposing teams’ best perimeter scorers. He has the ability to tremendously impact a game on the defensive end.
Augustine makes athletic slashes to the basket and can knock down open looks from behind the arc. He will certainly improve other areas of his game over the next four years, including ball handling and shooting on the move.
“Ryan has really grown over the past year. He has put in a lot of hard work every day in practice, but not only in basketball. He has really become a great young man; it has been a pleasure coaching and teaching Ryan this year. I know he is going to have a very successful CIS career.” Nicholson adds.
