Buzz: Justin Edwards Under The Radar

Published by on March 23, 2010

The high school basketball scene is coming to an end, but the bouncing of the ball continues for many of these kids playing in the OBA and AAU season. OFSSAA had its share of upsets at all levels and some players that have been drifting under the radar really showed they belong. One of those hidden gems hails from the Durham region and is arguably one of the best players that’s name is not household. Whitby Anderson High School’s, Justin Edwards.

Edwards led Anderson to the LOSSA playoffs and has had some credible wins for his squad this season helping ACVI advance for the OFSSAA Triple A competition where they battled it out with the likes of Martingrove C.I and Jarvis C.I. The 6-foot-1 shooting guard led his team all year long averaging 23 points along with 6 assist per contest. His ability to get to the basket with ease gets the best opponents at times due to how quick and strong Edwards at his slender size.

His athletic ability allows him to elevate and catch defenders of guard, leading to a high flying dunk if you’re sleeping. Edwards is very well rounded; he will also take you behind the arc and scorch you from the three point line when heated. In his final game of the year at AAA OFSSAA in Kingston, ON he lit it up for 31 points.

Justin Edwards Knowing that he has one more year left of high school, the goal is to take his team back to provincials. Edwards is jumping right into his OBA (Jamba Cats) and AAU (whitby Wildcats) play where he’ll continue to destroy his opponents and make a name for himself amongst the best in the province of Ontario. Also looking to get some more exposure this summer, to add to the buzz he has created, don’t be surprised if some more schools come checking up on this smooth, high flyer who is currently receiving some interest from NCAA Division 1 schools such as U Mass and the University of Detroit to go along with several CIS programs such as Windsor, UPEI, Ryerson U and York U to boot.

Justin Edwards is looking to take his game to the next level and have his stock continue to rise as one of the top guards in the GTA if not the province!
