Five Canadians To Mark 10th Anniversary of the Jordan Brand Classic
Published by Michael Henry on April 16, 2011
On April 16, 2011, the 2011 Jordan Brand Classic (JBC) in Charlotte, NC, will boast 5 Canadians. The three pronged event will be taking place in Time Warner Cable Arena, highlighted by the ESPN2 nationally televised, All-American game. The jewel of the event features Canadian content including Khem Birch who will suit up for the East Team, as well as Myck Kabongo along with Kyle Wiltjer who will represent the West Team. Each are coming off positive showings at McDonald’s All-Americans back in March and will look to keep the momentum going.
Coming off a positive showing of his own in his initial EYBL tour stop this year, Andrew Wiggins will look to continue to raise his stock after being selected to play in the JBC International game. With the playing field relatively level, as many of the other players in this game are the same age as Wiggins, he has a great opportunity to continue to make some headlines after all is said and done.
Rounding out the list of Canadians playing in this event is Kevin Thomas who is playing in the JBC Regional game. The Regional game features players from North Carolina based High School/Prep teams. The door is now open for Thomas to really make a name for himself, at an event where last year Tristan Thompson and Corey Joseph, potential Texas Longhorn teamates for Thomas next year, solidified their reputations.
The International Game tips off at 3:30pm. The Regional Game begins at 5:30. The All-American Game starts at 8:30pm.
