Hamilton Spectator All-Star Classic Day 2 Results

In the March 30, 2011, Gold medal game of the Hamilton Spectator All-Star Classic, the Halton All-Stars beat the Hamilton Catholic All-Stars by a score of 85-75. Mike L’Africain, who has just recently committed to play next year at the the University of Ottawa next season, put in game-high 18 points. The newly named Gee-Gee, was an assist machine, often setting up teammates Nathan McCarthy of Burlington Notre Dame, who scored 17 points, and

Anthony Pate of Oakville Holy Trinity who contributed 12. That was enough to get by the balanced attack of the the Hamilton Catholic squad who saw 4 player score into double figures (Paul Petruccelli of St. Thomas More – 12, Lucas Mancini of Cardinal Newman – 11, Mark Ferracuti of St. Jean de Brébeuf -10 and Lamar Barr of St. Thomas More -10)

The Bronze medal game saw the Hamilton Public All-Stars beat the Brant County All-Stars 66-65. This game featured an exciting last minute that saw a number of turnovers and Brant County with the ball with under 5 seconds to play. With the Hamilton Public All-Stars up 66-63, Brant opted to settle for 2 points in the paint as opposed to trying to kick it out for a three point attempt. Hamilton Public was led by James Miles of Westmount who scored 12 points and Moe Ismail of Sherwood who scored 11. Brant was led by Brandon Webster of North Park, who scored 12 points.

In the 3-point Shooting Contest taking place in between games, Hamilton Catholic’s Hamid Nessek of ACMT managed 19 points for the win. Lucas Mancini of Cardinal Newman (Hamilton Catholic) won the slam-dunk contest.

The Hamilton Spectator All-Star Classic, showcases some of the Golden Horseshoe region’s players best, assembling high school All-Stars from Hamilton (separated by Catholic and Public), Halton and Brant and took place in the St. Thomas More gym.
