Eastern Commerce and Jarvis Qualify For OFSAA

The Eastern Commerce Saints and the Jarvis Bulldogs made the most of their second chances as each won their ‘back door’ games on February 25, 2011. Both, had to pick themselves up a day after loosing their TDSSAA, Toronto City Championship games.
A day after their tough loss to the Oakwood Barons, Eastern Commerce won their ‘back door’ game against the Laurier Blue Devils 52-38. The Saints’ Aaron Best led all scorers with 17 while the Blue Devils’ David Kamara poured in 10. The win was a bittersweet one after a tough 54-46 overtime loss to the defending OFSAA champions, which saw their streak of 4 straight city titles come to an end. The Magnificent 7, as they have nicknamed themselves, will join Oakwood, as the the quad A (AAAA) representatives from Toronto.

The Jarvis Bulldogs will be returning to OFSAA again this year thanks to their 53-51 win over the Western Tech Colts. Denzel Lynch-Blair put up 14 points for the Bulldogs, while Darcy Watt answered with18 in the losing cause for the Colts. The Jarvis Bulldogs earned their spot alongside the Martingrove Bears to whom they lost on February 24, 2011 in the TDSSAA AAA finals, by a score of 57-54. The Bulldogs will see if they can avenge their 2010 OFSAA semi final loss also to Martingrove.
