Game Recaps
Bounce Hand Hawks Headache
Published by Michael Henry on April 10, 2011
On April 9, 2011, CIA Bounce was able to rebound from a tough 28 point loss earlier in the day, to claim their second 2011 Nike EYBL (Elite Youth Basketball League) victory, 85-54 over the Metro Hawks. After a tight 5 point lead heading into halftime (39-34), Bounce was able to put things in overdrive to excel past the Hawks by outscoring them by 26 to close out the game.
This time it was about the unusual suspects and their contribution that has proved to be an impact on this game for Bounce. Leaders Anthony Bennett (6’8″, 230 lbs, PF, Findlay Prep, 2012) led with with 23 points and 7 rebounds, and Andrew Wiggins (6’7″, 195 lbs, SF, Vaughan, 2014) poured in 12, but other members of Bounce made solid contributions the victory. Bounce’s defence stepped up, led by Sim Bhullar (7’4″, 330 lbs, C, Huntingdon Prep), who tallied 4 blocks to go along with his 12 points and 6 rebounds and Negus Webster-Chan who led all with 4 steals (along with adding 7 points and 5 rebounds) and limited the Hawks to under 40% shooting. Another bright spot for CIA Bounce was that Dyshawn Pierre (6’5″, 190 lbs, SF, Anderson, 2012) was able to break out of his shell offensively a bit in this game. Pierre was able contribute 11 points in his 14 minutes of play, after being held to 2 points in his two previous Nike EYBL games.
The Metro Hawks out of New York City, were led by Jaffland Neverson (6’5″, 185 lbs, SF, Boy’s and Girls) who scored 17 points.
CIA Bounce improve to 2-1 on the 2011 Nike EYBL Circuit.
