Vikas Gill will stay local for college ball as he gave the University of Ottawa a verbal commitment on Sunday night.“Jimmy was a great recruiter,” Gill said. “He communicated with me often so I was always in the loop, I knew exactly what he was thinking and where he wanted me to play and he’s easy to talk to. He listens to his players and takes in idea’s which is a great quality for a coach, not just having it his way always and that’s what I like in coaches. He’s a young coach who I could really connect well with. The fact that he has a good plan for the future and a great recruiting class coming in, guys that could help us win it my third to fifth year, and its a system I feel comfortable in.”
The 6-foot-7 forward created quite a buzz couple months back with his outstanding play in the Eastern Commerce Holiday Classic. Ottawa landed a tough, scrappy player that does the little things that enables his team to win. He crashes the boards at both ends and defends hard. He has a very good understanding of the game can knock down open mid-range shots and can even step out and hit threes if there’s enough time for him to get set.
With recruiting out of the way, Gill has his eye set on a City championship with his Sacred Heart team and then to make some noise in OFSAA.
“Our team is all on the same page so i’m excited for the rest of the season.”
