Got Next: Martin Dixon-Green
Published by CROWN staff on June 22, 2009
Class: 2012
Position: Shooting Guard
Height: 6’3
School: Pope John Paul II (Scarborough, ON)
Martin Dixon- Green decided play to play senior since he thought it would benefit his game in the long run. The 6’3 sophomore from Pope John Paul II, had a very good season playing as the starting shooting guard. Martin averaged 20 points, 7 assists and 8 rebounds. He has very strong leadership qualities, as he led a very young Pope John Paul team to the TDCAA semi-Finals where they lost to the eventual Finalists, Father Henry Carr.
Martin is able to attack the rim at will, absorb contact and finish strong. Martin always tries to finish above the rim, and also takes pride in being a tough gritty defender. He has the potential to become a superb lock-down perimeter defender due to his good size and athleticism, but will need to assert himself. Beginning his basketball career as a post player due to his size at a young age, Martin has gradually transformed into a shooting guard. His dribbling has improved considerably, however will need to continue to develop to be a force on the wing. With added speed and quickness, Dixon-Green could become a dangerous player.
With him leading Pope John Paul alongside partner in crime, Negus Webster-Chan, (you’ll hear about him soon) they should be dominating their opposition for the next few years.

Negus has more upside, he’s 6’6″ guard/foward still growing and has a long body. We’ll see what happens.

These kids are both very talented players. On potential you have to go with the 6’6 kid. As it stands now? Martin is the better player, but I don’t think you’ll go wrong picking either.
