Got Next: Mitch Jacobsen

The 6’7, 210 pound SG/SF out of Calgary, Alberta is hungry and ready to come out hard, after having to sit out his grade 10 year, as he transferred from Notre Dame to Sir Winston Churchill High School. After having a dominating freshman year to say the least; averaging 31, 16, and 4, the question still remains whether he will maintain supremacy over his adversaries at the senior level. Jacobsen was simply too big for his competition. Although he’s currently playing as a combo guard, his dribbling skills are nowhere where they could be. The root word is potential. Mitch has the potential to be a special talent within the next few years and on.
Entering his junior year (grade 11) it all comes down to how hard he’s willing to work on his perimeter game; his pull up J, speed and dribbling. He admits, “I am notoriously right handed and my pull up jumper needs work. I also tend to resort to the same moves, like the up-and-under, over and over again.” Jacobsen has a good body at 6’7 but needs to learn how to utilize it against his opponents. He should have the ability to drive swiftly past taller defenders, and punish smaller opponents inside. Mitch has sound fundamentals and a solid shooting stroke, however will need to improve on his athleticism in order to maintain dominance against his counterparts, especially at the next level. With all these goals attained, Jacobsen could transform into the Alberta version of BC legend, Bol Kong. A bold statement indeed, hopefully MJ proves us right!
