Iowa State Lands Naz Long

Iowa State University has just picked up a big commitment moments ago. Nazareth Long, the number one point guard in the Canadian class of 2012, has officially committed to the Cyclones earlier while on his official visit.
We caught the 6-foot-4 lead guard fresh off his commitment “I’m in the gym right now, been in the gym for past three hours and don’t want to leave, goes to show, it’s where I want to be, I feel great about being here!” Long said on the phone full of emotions.
“ I just feel home, that’s the main thing I just wanted to be at a home away from home, cause when I’m gone for four years I just gotta feel comfortable. All the guys are cool, the coaches are cool, they showed me mad love.”
Cyclones must have made a bigger impression on the Mississauga, ON native than expected. Just last week he officially visited Rice and they seemed like the team to beat for a while in Long’s recruitment.
This is a great pick up for the Cyclones. Long has outstanding leadership qualities, is extremely coachable and is the type of teammate you want in the locker room. Has good size and strength at the point guard position, being 6-foot-4 he can play on and off the ball. In addition to that, he is an excellent playmaker has the ability to create shots for himself and other. He is the type of player who plays his heart out on both ends of the floor and would do anything to get a win.
“He’s the best Leader and teammate I’ve ever coached. Keeps getting better and has a chance to make a huge impact in the Big 12. Iowa got a steal,” says Mike George, Long’s AAU coach with CIA BOUNCE.
Miami, Rice, Missouri, Creigton, Western Kentucky and Dayton were also in the hunt for his services. Long joins fellow Canadian Melvin Ejim who is a sophomore with the Cyclones.
