Junior Osuntola Opts For Lancers

Published by on March 25, 2011

The University of Windsor has been the only school thoroughly tracking 6-foot-5 athletic forward Junior Osuntola who was right in their backyard.

The Holy Names star had gone under the radar for most CIS programs and was virtually unknown until the 2011 season. Osuntola opened many eyes with some of the strongest tournament performances we’ve seen this season. First during with The Humber College Classic, then at the St. Mike’s Invitational. The strong play would continue for the rest of the season as he led his team to a 4A OFSAA berth.

On Thursday, Windsor’s hard work payed off as Osuntola stayed loyal to the school who’s shown him the most love by giving the Lancers a verbal commitment.

“I am already familiar with the players, team and their style and play,” Osuntola said. “I believe my transition will be fluent into the program.”

Osuntola feels it will also be a great opportunity to stay close to home while having the support of his family and close friends.

Here’s an evaluation of Windsor’s newest comer from his impressive  performance at the prestigious St. Mike’s tournament earlier this year.

January 2011 St. Mikes Invitational…

“Osuntola Jr. is an athletic forward with fire to his game. A hard worker inside who’s tough when rebounding the ball at both ends. His biggest strength lies on the defensive end where he uses his lateral quickness to lock down the perimeter and is able to utilize his toughness and strength to defend down low. Osuntola’s offensive package is still a work in progress as he created and made most of his baskets just inside the three, hitting a short jumper or taking a hard drive to the basket.”
