Since announcing his reclassification to the 2012 class last week, former 2013 point guard Kaza Keane has seen his recruitment heat up. The move has made Keane one of the top floor generals still in the market. With a great portion of college programs searching late for a talented point man, Keane has became a prime target amongst high major programs.
“Well me and my family felt that it would be the best thing for me,” Keane said of the move, “Academically and basketball wise to reach the goals I set out for myself in both ways . Also Christian Faith Was a great situation for me to develop and grow up but college is a next level a bit higher and for my development we felt that going to college will help .”
The 6-foot-2 Ajax, ON native listed ORU, Rhode Island, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech, Uconn, Tennessee and Oklahoma State as schools intensely pursuing him for their 2012 recruiting class.
So who’s making the strongest push for his services?
“All The Schools are coming pretty hard , they try and call a lot, they call coach Ro Russell (Keane’s high school and AAU coach with Grassroots Canada) a lot , everyday I’ve gotten a call or message from a school .”
Keane plans to visit Pittsburgh, Rhode Islands, Nebraska, Georgia Tech and “a few others.”
“I’m just figuring out things. Just waiting to decide which ones are going to be official and stuff.”
Christian Faith Center Academy plays a national schedule and Keane has proven to be a quality lead guard going up against the best of the best in the country. He recently posted 19 points and 14 assist to lead CFCA over top ten prospect Rodney Purvis and his Upper Room team.
“I just was prepared mentally from coach Ro [Russell], had me thinking about the game in days before, so I felt that an opportunity of that sort you can’t back down from.” He said of his match up against the McDonalds All American in Purvis.
“During the game winning was all that was on my mind. Even Though I had those numbers it was such a great team effort and I got to just give it up to my great teammates, especially the play of Brandon Chauca (2014 G) who had 24 and Mikyle McIntosh (2013 F) who had 28 .”
As for a time frame on his school decision?
“I’ll most likely be doing my decision before I graduate, during a time period when I am home so I can announce it in front of my family and friends where everyone is around in my family.”
