Today, the talented 6-foot-6 shooting guard let it be known that he’ll be taking his game to Michigan to be a Wolverine in their 2012 class.
Stauskas in the past hasn’t shied away from his feelings and high interest he’s had in the Wolverine program, stating they had been his favorite all along, choosing them over other major programs such as Stanford, Iowa State and Wake Forest.
“It’s great that I’m close to home,” he said. “Just talked with my family and coaches and I felt that’s what was best. [I also feel Michigan has] great coaches and great system for me to play in.”
Stauskas was terrific playing at home last week, showing why he’s one the top shooting guards in the 2012 class. Below is Stauskas’ evaluation from his outstanding performance at the NPSAA championships.
“Stauskas was by far the top performer in the tournament. As we mentioned in the day one recap he has great size and an intriguing skill package that comes with it. His ability to handle, create his own shot, pass, and consistently hit jumpers made him a tough cover throughout the whole tournament. Stauskas carries a certain confidence about himself and showed he’s willing to put a team on his back if needed to. No one was a better fourth-quarter performer than he was, making tough jumpers and frequently attacking and getting to the line where he is a high percentage free throw shooter.”
