Top Forward Juwon Grannum Pledges To Run With The Rams

REDA has seen 2 of its players commit to CIS programs last month and it seems yet another REDA prospect was prepared to embark on his future. This morning, 6’7 2012 F Juwon Grannum officially committed to the Ryerson Rams. This is the second commitment for Coach Roy Rana’s recruiting class, who received a commitment from 6’6 2012 G/F Matthew Beckford at the end of February.
Grannum is a solid two-way forward who is an efficient rebounder and defender in the low post. He also has great offensive awareness and has a knack for being in the right place to clean up missed shots or off rebounds. In addition, Grannum has worked on his midrange shooting ability and can hit shots with efficiency.
Tarry Upshaw, Grannum’s REDA coach, was quick to commend Ryerson on their latest commitment. Upshaw and Grannum have been instrumental in their key NPSAA victories against notable teams such as CFCA (Creedmore, NC) and PHASE1 (Toronto, Ontario).
“Juwon is a great person! He will be a top level player at the CIS level! He has a great understanding of how to play the game the right way (due to his father) and is a real glue guy with above average shooting ability. He is a nightmare match up problem for other teams. Grannum can play inside or outside and is a great passer. He is also a great student. Big time pick up for Ryerson!”
CROWN was able to catch up with Ryerson’s Head Coach Roy Rana as the Rams made their way to Halifax for this Friday’s matchup against Alberta.
“Juwon is a very important addition in the development of our program. He is multi-talented, has great IQ and brings great character to the culture in our program. I expect him to make an immediate impact,” explained Rana.
With the Ryerson men’s basketball program rising through the ranks, commitments like these will occur often as the program continues to build on the success gained this year.
