Father Henry Carr Tournament: Bronze Medal Game

Published by AJ on November 22, 2008

Mother Teresa VS. Vaughn

Mother Teresa’s big guns: Maurice Walker- inside presence
Ashton Khan – playmaking ability in the open court
Vaughn’s big guns: Josh Collins- shooting and passing ability

Going into this bronze medal game, it was expected for Big MO, Maurice Walker to dominate in the inside as the Voyagers tallest player was 6’5, giving up 4 inches to Walker. Expectations were met as he scored 12 out of MT’s 16 points in the first quarter. Momentarily, Vaughn was surprising some, hitting multiple 3-pointers to keep it close by the end of the first quarter, 16-13 MT

The rest of the game was a completely different story. Mother Teresa’s starting line-up had taken a breather for the majority of the second quarter and MT still managed to hold on to a double digit lead with their bench on the floor, 41-28 going into halftime. Vaughn was outscored 25-15 in the second quarter. It was interesting to note that #21 Ashton Khan, MT’s starting point guard had sat on the bench for most of the game.

Maruice Walker picked up where he left off in the

third quarter, dominating inside, shooting 7/7 from the field and even laced up a 3-pointer shooting 1/2 from deep. This game was so lop-sided to the point where Big MO felt he had to put in some extra work by LITERALLY doing push-ups on the court after his missed dunk. The game ended with a score of 74-40

After having a solid tournament, shooting efficiently and distributing the ball, #32 Josh Collins was a non-factor in the bronze medal game shooting 0/7 with 3 assists.
