“I had discussed it with my family and made the choice before I visited for the second time,” said Achonwa. “I thought it would be more personal and exciting to announce it to the coaches in person.”

Natalie, who attends National Elite Development Academy (NEDA) in Hamilton, Ontario is the youngest player to have recently made it on the Canadian women’s senior national team. She will return to NEDA for another year before she makes the haul down south to Indiana. Not only will she become the first Canadian player to don a jersey for Notre Dame’s women’s team–she will become the first international player ever to play for the Fighting Irish’s women’s squad.
“I feel comfortable and relieved that I made my decision and I am looking forward to it.”
