Webster-Chan Has Tiger Blood: Commits To Missouri

Published by on October 7, 2011

As we reported two days ago, a former Louisville commit, Negus Webster-Chan heavily favored two schools with Missouri being one them and was set to decide on Friday Oct 7.

Webster-Chan made it official this morning as he announced his commitment to the Missouri Tigers over Iowa State where he strongly considered joining fellow Canadian Melvin Ejim, West Virginia, Seton Hall, Texas, Marquette and Clemson.

The Tigers made a bigger impression on Webster-Chan than he expected, after taking his official visit he was astonished by what the program had to offer.

“I really didn’t expect what I seen at Missouri. My visit went real good, it was bigger than I expected.” He said “Getting to know the players was good for me. We really got along on and off the court. The fans there are just so passionate it’s crazy!”

This commitment to Missouri doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. The 6-foot-7, 2012 shooting guard out of Scarborough, ON already had special connection to the Tigers, due to his strong bond with first year assistant coach Tim Fuller. Fuller helped recruit the Huntington Prep guard last year to Louisville where Webster-Chan committed in December before de-committing four months later.

“My relationship with the coaching staff, well in particular I would say I’m real tight with the assistant coach Tim Fuller he was a part of my recruitment at Louisville.”

In addition he also got a chance to get closer to first year Head coach Frank Haith.

“I got to know the head coach [Frank Haith] a lot more on my visit and spent a lot of time with him. Getting to know him better I felt relaxed talking to him. He is a really cool guy to be around and to talk to whether it’s about basketball or not.”

Missouri is also pursuing Webster-Chan’s CIA Bounce and Huntington Prep teammate Stefan Jankovic who is seriously considering the Tigers. He has narrowed his list down to Missouri, Florida State, Georgetown and Purdue.
